Chinese Theatre


Chinese theatre (戏曲,Xiqu), also known as Chinese operas, is a family of hundreds of opera forms which evolved from different local cultures in China over the past centuries. Each of these operas combines distinctive music, singing, mime, dancing, acrobatics and dramatic performing. According to a survey in 2015, there are 348 Chinese theatre operas extant in China, and among which Beijing opera, Kunqu opera, Yu opera and many others are still widely popular with people.
